Shout out to our hospo heroes working in our bars, restaurants and hotels this Christmas. It’s often known as “silly season”. We’re not quite sure what it will bring after the last couple of years and talks of a cost-of-living crisis. If there’s one thing we know for certain… you have absolutely got what it takes to make it through and you know what? We’re here for you each and  every (achy) step of the way – your very own hospo bestie.

BRITA Professional and the Burnt Chef Project collaborated on research*  which reveals work besties improve customer service, team efficiency and mental health BUT only 77% of hospitality have a best friend at work so if you’re in the remaining 23% then we are here for you!

How will working in hospitality help you to make friends?

Shout out to those who absolutely know how special it is meeting your bezzie whilst working in hospitality!

But you know what? It’s not just about meeting your best friend… hospitality is a chance to be around people. The sector brings people alive and a chance to prevent loneliness! We read this *stat earlier on in the yearone in four students are lonely most or all of the time” and we just know working in hospo is the answer to improve this figure.

Why is it important to work with friends?

The research found 58% of hospitality employees find having a best friend helps keep them calm, especially important in the run-up to and during Christmas!

Your BFF will be the first one you turn to if you make a mistake, they’ll help you to keep your cool and prevent any unnecessary panic. They’ll also be the first person you share your wins with because they’ve got your back and you have theirs.

A chance to offload the shift dramas as you sync up being at the coffee machine/pass/cellar at the same time – grabbing those moments for a quick eye-roll/debrief – we’ve all been there!

What are the employer benefits of workplace friendships?

After reading the research:

  • More than half (51%) of those surveyed recognise that they provide better service by being more efficient, productive and energetic when working with their best friend
  • 74% acknowledge that their shared understanding as a result of friendship means they can appreciate each other’s strengths and know their weaknesses

Sounds like a dream team to us! Especially during Christmas, the focus should be on efficiencies and if that means pairing up the besties then embrace, embrace, embrace…

We’ll step up as your hospo bestie…

If you’re one of the 23% without a hospo bestie then we’ve got you! As a team of hospitality lifers with a commitment to connecting outstanding talent with their dream roles within hospitality, either we’ll be your best friend or we will most definitely introduce you to your potential BFF.

We ALWAYS love to hear about your wins but our biggest strength will be to help you to overcome challenges within your role.

We’ll hold your hand when…
